What to Include in Your Dental Marketing Materials

Posted on July 27, 2010 in Dental Marketing

Follow these quick tips when putting together your dental marketing materials.

Learning to market your dental business can be a little bit daunting at first.  After all you are a dentist, not an advertising agent.  There aren’t many classes included in the dentistry curriculum that include dental marketing to potential patients.  However, this is a part of your job and it has to be done.  Here are a few simple tips to help you on your way to marketing your dental practice.

Put the Patient at Ease

One of the main reasons that people avoid the dentist is fear.  No matter how old they get some people are simply afraid of the dentist. If you really want to work on getting new patients you should always include reasons to not be afraid as a part of your dental marketing.

In your advertisements or web content include the many ways that you strive to keep your patients comfortable and at ease.  Include details like headphones, warm rooms, whatever you have invested in to make your patients feel more secure.  I have even seen dentists who offer warm compresses and massages in their office to regular patients.  Whatever you think sets you apart advertise it.  You want to ease fears.

Demonstrate Your Work

Make yourself  look good.  Ask patients if you can use photos of their teeth for dental marketing.  Most patients will be flattered that you asked and gladly approve your use of their image.  You can use images from a great job you did adding veneers or some other form of corrective surgery – before and after pictures are a must! You can also use a photograph of a patient that sees you regularly for maintenance but has terrific teeth.

Talk About Yourself

Within your dental marketing materials include some information about your education and also try to include details about your family life and work experience.  Let potential patients see that you are a real person and not just some person with a drill coming at their face.  This goes right with putting patients at ease.  Patients are far more comfortable with medical professionals who share a little bit about themselves.

Keep Everything High Quality

Patients are impressed by a dentist who seems to illustrate high quality work.  They are also impressed by a dentist who offers reasonable prices.  Try to show both aspects of your business by making sure to use high quality images and good language on all dental marketing.  At the same time include the word “affordable” and mention any accepted insurances within all of your dental marketing.

Creating dental marketing materials for your practice doesn’t have to be a scary ordeal once you know what type of information to include. Just remember to ease your prospects’ fears, demonstrate your work and be personable.
